President’s Letter – March 2026

Dear NAPF Community,

With the horror of the war engulfing the Middle East, I’ve been fortunate to release some of the pent-up stress and energy into writing, webinars, events, and interviews. It is not an exaggeration to say that the scale of devastation and potential catastrophe looming over us appears unprecedented. Yes, we’ve watched the devastation in Ukraine (over the last four years) and Gaza (over the last 2.5 years), with thousands, even millions, of casualties. The policies of war and dominance have created so much tragedy recently, not to mention over the decades and centuries. But now with Trump in the mix, we truly seem to be one bad decision, deliberate or not, from nuclear annihilation.

Over the past month, we started a new Substack, called Nuclear Insanity. The space features writing from NAPF affiliates and others in the disarmament movement on nuclear issues in policy, history, and culture. Please subscribe to our Substack to receive notifications of the latest articles, interviews, and more. And if you’re someone who contributes to these topics, please let us know so we can add your work as an author. We’ve created quite an archive already (with older contributions backdated), and hope for this to become a definitive collection of ideas on the problems of and solutions for the nuclear age.

We remain convinced that the path to a better world is more knowledge and greater understanding. Just one conversation can prove to be decisive; many of them can prove to be transformational. We hope our resources below will give you the power to be a part of the solution, which should be so obvious, and yet feels so elusive: peace, diplomacy, and a world free of nuclear weapons.
