In addition to its annual public events, NAPF often holds special events featuring members of its Advisory Council (LINK) or other distinguished individuals.
Archbishop Desmond Tutu
In May 2011, Archbishop Desmond Tutu came to Santa Barbara, California, to support the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation in one of his last public appearances outside of South Africa. Tutu is a Nobel Peace Laureate, recipient of NAPF’s Distinguished Peace Leadership Award and a member of the NAPF Advisory Council.
Dr. Helen Caldicott
In March 2012, Dr. Helen Caldicott was the honored guest at a reception at the home of NAPF Board member Dr. Jimmy Hara. Caldicott, an Australian physician who has been an outspoken opponent of nuclear weapons for decades, received the NAPF Distinguished Peace Leadership Award in 1994 and is a long-time member of the NAPF Advisory Council.
