On April 22, 2026, Ivana Nikolić Hughes joined the People’s Academy of International Law seminar “Nuclear Disarmament and the Right to Peace,” alongside Ryan Costello, Anna Illing, and Olga Kuznetsova, moderated by Marjorie Cohn. The event page is available HERE.
The seminar examined the role of international law in advancing nuclear disarmament, with reference to key treaties including the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW), the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), the Arms Trade Treaty, and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT).
Ivana Nikolić Hughes presented on “The Role of International Treaties in Nuclear Disarmament,” outlining the structure of the global disarmament framework from early agreements such as the Partial Test Ban Treaty to the NPT and CTBT, and more recent efforts such as the TPNW.
