NAPF team on The Hill (from left to right): Ryan Rowe, Christian Ciobanu, Grahm Tuohy-Gaydos, Harris Agha, James Spindler, Ivana Nikolić Hughes.
On Thursday, July 13, the NAPF team, consisting of our President Ivana Nikolić Hughes, our Policy and Advocacy Coordinator Christian Ciobanu, and four of our wonderful summer interns (Harris Agha, Ryan Rowe, James Spindler, Grahm Tuohy-Gaydos) visited Capitol Hill to engage with Congressional staff on nuclear disarmament. We joined a group of other activists lobbying specifically for Bill H.R. 2775 by Representative Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), which calls for the US to sign and ratify the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) and to divert current spending on nuclear weapons to climate change mitigation and adaptation. The represented groups, including Nuclear Ban Treaty US, are a part of a new coalition, Warheads to Windmills. We were also pleased to engage with staffers on broader nuclear disarmament issues and to educate them both about the imperative of nuclear abolition, as well as the current status of the TPNW and processes underway to universalize and implement the treaty.

With Bryce Causey (Office of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez) and colleagues from ICAN, Nuclear Ban Treaty US, and CodePink.
