Alice Slater is one of the most consequential voices in the global nuclear disarmament movement. A tireless advocate since the Cold War era, she has spent decades on the front lines of the fight to abolish nuclear weapons, founding and leading major organizations including Abolition 2000, Global Resource Action Center for the Environment, and Economists Allied for Arms Reduction.

In this conversation with Anastasia Shakhidzhanova, Alice reflects on the history of the nuclear age, the dangerous illusion of deterrence, and what the path to a nuclear-free world actually looks like.

This interview is part of the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation’s Women Waging Peace Interview Series.
