Rick Wayman
CEO

Rick Wayman is the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation’s President and CEO. He has a Bachelor’s degree in International Business from Marquette University and a Master’s degree in Intercultural Service, Leadership and Management from the School for International Training. He was deeply involved in the 2017 negotiations for the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, which led to a Nobel Peace Prize for the ICAN network, and played a leading role in supporting the Republic of the Marshall Islands’ in its lawsuits against the world’s nine nuclear-armed nations.

Paul K. Chappell

West Point graduate, Iraq War veteran, and former army captain, Paul K. Chappell shows why people need to be as well trained in waging peace as soldiers are in waging war. He is the author of six books, most recently Soldiers of Peace (2016). Visit his author website here. Lecturing across the country and internationally, he also teaches college courses and workshops on Peace Literacy, and leads a Peace Literacy curricular development team for k-12, and higher education.

Sarah Witmer

Sarah is a graduate of the Dual BA Program between Columbia University and Sciences Po, where she studied international relations and East Asian studies. Her experiences living in Japan and France have shaped her interests in cross-cultural communication, conflict management, and nuclear policy.

Shari Clough
Peace Literacy Curriculum Coordinator

In addition to co-facilitating workshops with Paul on Peace Literacy and non-violence, Shari is a Professor of Philosophy at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon, and serves as Director of Phronesis Lab: Experiments in Engaged Ethics. Phronesis is Greek for “practical wisdom.” Her engaged philosophical research focuses on the intersection of science and politics and she lectures on the Peace Literacy skills needed for effective deliberation in science and policy contexts. Richard Falk
Senior Vice President

Richard Falk is the Albert G. Milbank Professor Emeritus of International Law and Practice at Princeton University. He is a recipient of the UNESCO Peace Education Prize. Prof. Falk has provided expert testimony in many high profile cases and legislative and administrative hearings. He is the author, co-author or editor of more than 40 books on international law and the law of war.

Alice Slater
New York Representative

Alice Slater is the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation’s New York representative. She is a member of the Global Council of Abolition 2000, a global network working for a treaty to eliminate nuclear weapons and directs the network’s Sustainable Energy Working Group which produced a model statute for an International Renewable Energy Agency.

Dr. Jimmy Hara is a Professor of Clinical Family Medicine at the UCLA School of Medicine.

Martin Hellman

Martin E. Hellman is a Member of the National Academy of Engineering (USA) and Professor Emeritus at Stanford University. He is best known as co-inventor of public key cryptography, he has also worked for over 25 years to reduce the nuclear threat.
