Douglas Roche, O.C.

Douglas Roche is currently a member at the Canadian Senate and was Canadian Ambassador for Disarmament (1984-1989) and Member of Parliament (1972-1984). He attended the Non-Proliferation Treaty Review and Extension Conference, April 17 — May 13, 1995. He was elected Chairman of the United Nations Disarmament Committee, the main UN body dealing with political and security issues, at the 43rd General Assembly in 1988. He was the founding president of Parliamentarians for Global Action and president of the United Nations Association in Canada. He was named an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1992.
