About the Silicon Valley Chapter

The Nuclear Age Peace Foundation Silicon Valley Chapter (NAPF-SV) was started in 2009 to provide grassroots support for creating a world at peace, free of the threat of war and free of weapons of mass destruction. Organized by local peace advocates, NAPF-SV will promote the NAPF mission at the local level. This is expected to involve a variety of activities, including:

  • Holding chapter meetings
  • Informing people about important local events
  • Developing, sponsoring and co-sponsoring such events
  • Participating in NAPF campaigns and programs
  • Assisting local colleges and universities in relevant educational activities
  • Promoting support from Silicon Valley business and technology leaders

NAPF-SV will be a focal point for "waging peace" in the Silicon Valley area. Check this page often for local activities, and contact us to become a part of this important new venture.

Study Guide for the documentary "Nuclear Tipping Point"

"Nuclear Tipping Point" is a powerful documentary film that:

  1. Explains why a world free of nuclear weapons will enhance our national security
  2. Features people with impeccable national security credentials (Colin Powell, George Shultz, Bill Perry and more)
  3. Is available as a DVD at no cost
  4. Provides a basis for a meaningful dialog with people who are undecided

To aid you in raising awareness of both the threat and the opportunity, we have created a study guide keyed to the movie.  The goal is to engage people in our communities with the critical problem of defusing the nuclear risk -- a problem that too many people are simply ignoring.


The study guide provides pro-and-con arguments, and includes questions to promote the discussion. We encourage you to:

  2. Download and read our study guide
  3. View the film
  4. Invite others to watch the movie with you, participate in a discussion, and decide if they would like to do the same.

In addition to friends, relatives and neighbors, think about inviting members of a church or civic group, or holding an event at your local library.  This is something concrete that all of us can do to make our communities aware of the nuclear risk and what we can do about it.
