principle areas: (1) the abolition of nuclear weapons, (2) strengthening international law and institutions, and (3) empowering youth to become the next generation of peace leaders. Given our geographic limitations, we are expanding the Foundation’s vision through Affiliate organizations around the world. We view Affiliates as entrepreneurial, social ventures organized by like-minded, compassionate and committed individuals. Affiliates offer an opportunity for us to collaborate with individuals and organizations waging peace in their local communities who recognize the interconnectedness of our world and support the Foundation’s goals. Affiliates are encouraged to develop new, innovative programs that relate to issues of peace in their communities and that reflect the larger issues involved with waging peace worldwide. We serve as a central repository for good ideas that have worked for others throughout our network of Affiliates and members, with a commitment to share what works with the entire network.
2. At this time, we are not able to provide cash grants or financial assistance of any kind.
3. Our staff members travel frequently. We are able to respond to many, but not all, invitations for speaking engagements, leadership trainings, and nonviolence workshops. Oftentimes, there is the possibility of combining multiple events during a single trip. If we are unable to reach your region of the world, we may be able to identify an informed, inspirational speaker or effective facilitator in your area. Beyond speaking on the issues listed above, we can recommend resources for specific individual and/or group goals. Please understand that YOU MUST RECEIVE EXPLICIT PERMISSION before using the Foundation’s name in any capacity, including event sponsorship or in speaking with the media. This permission is granted upon approval of your application.
4. We invest a significant amount of time and energy into our family of websites in order to promote broad public outreach. These websites include ideas for action and publications available for download. This technology allows us to reach more world citizens than we would without them. In utilizing these tools though, we acknowledge the economic and social inequalities that form the root causes for the digital divide. It is our stance that these economic and social inequalities should be a higher priority within the U.S. federal expenditures than preparing for war.
5. We are able to send some Foundation materials to communities with established and reliable mail delivery systems. However, developing countries provide a real challenge given the additional funds needed to ensure a timely and tamper-proof delivery. In these instances, we rely on our websites as our primary dissemination vehicles.
